As a frame is to a painting, the pedestal is to a sculpture. It should relate, elevate, be beautiful, but also stand secondary to the work. This pedestal was designed for a client‘s sculpture. Taking the most literal interpretation of the from, a rectangular column, but then pulling those top edges back give the piece an overall simplicity, but with a hint of refined intention, pulling the viewer in for a closer look at the sculpture - and maybe its base.
